I have written a Bollinger band squeeze with breakout:
/* Bollinger Band Squeeze with breakout */
Show stocks where close is above 1
bollinger Width(20,2) 1 day ago is below 0.08 for the last 5 days
bollinger Width(20,2) is above 0.1
and close is above close 1 days ago

Team,
How can I improve the above script to cover more stocks that trade in a very narrow range and start to break out ?
Thanks,

binhp,
go to muddy's blog greenonthescreen and read it thoroughly. I think he uses only
show stocks where close gained more than 8 percent over the last one day and price is between 1 and 10 ... than he reviews charts.
I use
show stocks where close gained more than 8 percent over the last one day
AND CLOSE PRICE IS BETWEEN 0.01 AND 15
rsi(2) > 75
close > upper bollinger band(20)
close > open
and pick big volumes

Thanks bp,
That's how I do it.
It picks them out so easy it's not even funny, unless one is too lazy to chart them.
I'm afraid a lot of folks think a filter is just gonna spit them out.
binhp,
As I stated on my blog,LJPC on 3/8 was one of the best classic examples of a sq/vol/break I've run across.
Not only for the beauty of the tightness of the bands but also the volume increase from a stock that had trouble trading 50k a day to a volume of 3.3 mil on breakout day!
Any squeeze breakout filter that didn't pick LJPC up on 3/8 is worth not much in my eyes.
An 88% move wasted after it's close on 3/8 at 4.13

The ideal squeeze filter would have picked up on LJPC on 3/7/07 befor a move like that, but BB squeeze did not because there IS NO SQUEEZE.In fact, there is no reason what so ever to look at LJPC on 3/7/07,no volume or price move or anything. What you are refering to on 3/8/07 is a BB Horn pattern and I actually reversed the BB indicators to the opposite direction on filter from Squeeze to Horn to get LJPC COR comes up on this BB(12) squeeze filter on 3/8/07 on normal mode.

As Muddy stated earlier there's usually still plenty of opportunity to enter on a retracement after the initial price/volume spike. You could have entered on 3/9 after price traded below and then traded above the close on 3/8 which also happened to be very close to the 38.2 fib retracement drawn off the March pivot low. Good thread. Thanks for all your contributions Muddy. I'll have to start watching these!

Muddy, so you use sq/vol/br filter, the bollingerband breakout filter, and the muddy bounce filter? how do you keep up with all of the picks?
