Show stocks where +DI(14) crossed above -DI(14) within the last week
and chart-display is weekly
results are very mixed. On numerous occasions +DI has not crossed above -DI in over a month.
I also tried "within the last two weeks" and that did not work either. First selection BAC crossed back in Aug last year and is still above.

Show stocks where +DI(14) crossed above -DI(14) within the last week
and chart-time is 7 days
price is > 10
volume > 5,000,000
I got 8 stocks. +DI(14) crossed above -DI(14) on all of them (except DG, where +DI(14) "touched" -DI(14).
HTH.

BTW, I used chart-time 7 days so that you can SEE it crossing.

Nice gap up coming on DG, so that will also be a "cross over".

Look @ DG. Did you see how predictive that cross over was?
DG made a double-bottom on 2/19 - 2/20, then gapped up $2.oo the next day.
That ADX indicator is pretty cool, if you know how to read it.

Karennma, see it. good cross. Take a look at this pattern - MACD on top, ADX underneath. MACD black line comes down near the bottom. ADX black line goes up to near the top. The two lines appear very close to touching. Now watch for the next +DI cross above the -DI. Appears to be a highly accurate buy signal. See it on DG back on 28 Dec. Get +DI cross on 15 Jan for a nice short run. Works beter on a weekly chart because one gets longer runs. Look at HPQ, ELN, MRVL, JCP, GLW on a weekly chart to see this pattern develop. Sometimes the +DI cross is a little late but I have not found an earlier signal that was as reliable. Of course I would love to program a scan to watch for this signal but that is way too complicated for me. This is my BUY ON WEAKNESS signal. My BUY ON STRENGTH signal is a cross above -20 on Williams&R(30).

I think that +DI will be crossing above 0 for DNDN pretty soon.

It has turned up in the last couple of days and does appear it could cross -DI. That cross in late Nov on the weekly chart would have really paid off. I prefer the weekly chart crosses as more reliable. On the weekly chart +DI is weakening and could cross below the -DI soon. I don,t trade just DI crosses, they are not as reliable without the MACD/ADX setup, so I would have missed the late Nov cross. However when MACD looked as strong as it did at the time, I would have been tempted.

Maybe this is why: (from SF Forum of Indicators)
"The DMI suite are cumulative indicators, so exact filters such as crossovers may produce results which may not match their charts. This is due to potential differences in the starting point of the calcuation."
When I add columns for the +DI(14), the -(DI(14) and the DI difference in my filter, I can see the data matches the filter but, on the chart, it looks like the lines aren't crossing over. Since the data looks good, maybe this is the result of the below-the-chart data being compacted into too small an area.
In a small, limited testing of technicals (MACD, Parabolic SAR, DMI, etc.), I found that the +DI(14) crossed above -DI(14) indicator produced much better results than any other of the other technicals tested in producing stocks that took off to the upside. Of course, this is like trying to prove a major theory with a one-off experience!
