Earlier today I tried to use ^HUI in a filter.
Apparently that's something you can't do.

Yeah, no indices will be returned from any SF filter. Kind of a stupid limitation if you ask me.
You could try using GDX or GDXJ as a surrogate (or GLD, of course). I would guess that they would return similar results.
Also, you can get indicator data if you put ^HUI into a watchlist, and add columns with the specific indicators you want:
For example "add column parabolic SAR " or "add column Stochastic(9,5,3)" as a column in the watchlist will automatically calculate that value for you, but not in a filter for some reason.
