Interesting approach towards the filter, I also like to separate the results in long and short candidates. I am wondering, how do you filter out higher closes after a gap up (and lower closes after a gap down) ?

Well after several attempts to use stockfetcher to do so I finally created a spread sheet. in exel. I found a spreadsheet at
http://www.financialwebring.org/gummy-stuff/stock-charts.htm
It is spreadsheet#104. Download Open High Low and Close of several stocks.
I have changed it somewhat and it is not as automated as I would like as I do have to cut and past each stock into my calculator based sheet.
I pull the following info
Gap Up Count If Up filled down? If Up Close Up? If Up Closed Down? Gap UP Filled % GapUp Filled Rank If UP Close Down % Close Down Rnak Gap Up Rank
Gap Down Count If Down filled Up? If Down Close Down? If Down Close Up? Gap DOWN Filled % GapDown Filled Rank If Down Close Up % Close Up Rank Gap Down Rank
I Plug in stocks from this filter over the last week

Thanks for the explanation. I am still exploring SF and have enough on my hands with that at this point, but do keep us posted on your possible candidates.

My trade of the morning.
Using TRO buy zone fade the gap and MTC....
Markets set to open lower and APKT set to open lower after a huge down move over the last 2 days.
Opened @ $50.72
I entered stop limit @ $50.82/$50.86
3 exits
1st @ $51.10 (0.5% ish)
2nd @$50.66(by the time I set my second sell It had already blown through (target was $51.32 approx 1%)
3rd @ $52.82( 2 bucks a share…Took the money and ran….close to a 4% move. Average daily range over the last 20 is about 4% as per my filter so that is a final sell for me)
This stock may make me look dumb by days end….might move much higher…but I play by my rules and play the statistics and averages.

Nice trade and great job sticking to your plan. Not a biggie but I believe there is a typo in the second exist, it should be 51.xx not 50.xx
