For the posted filters on this thread
So the entry is at open - $ 0.25 after the trigger date?
And have you thought of an exit?
Nope. I am using a stoplimit: high of trigger date +.01.
I always have trouble with exits. I am always hoping that you guys have one that I can wrap my head around.
Usually I set an initial limit of 3% and then watch the action. Again, I hope to see many of your exit ideas and hope to see the one or two that I can get used to.

This is a different filter idea. I never went further with this idea because it morphed into the posted idea. Perhaps someone can take the "filter idea" and run with it
For ease, here is a copy of the original thought...
--- This was started with the idea of catching a value that will get me in "just above the bottom".
I was wondering about finding a stock that "frequently" offers a way of getting in above the day low.
Would it be great to find a stock that OPEN - $X is often >= the day low... and the next day would offer a HIGH that is $X above yesterday's OPEN... as a meaningful percentage?
I agree with your thoughts below
If that is the case it would be an idea to calculate the average drop for each individual candidate.
Maybe the stock dropped $ 1 from the open 75 out of 100 times?
And have you thought of an exit? Nope--I always have trouble with exits.

LONG: (stoplimit) at High + .01 to enter?
PS How did you enter?
_____________________________
I entered at the open. Bad on me. I usually use price > high, because I agree with you on using the open. The "random" period I tested was 7/1/08 - 11/1/08. Ran using high + .01 and loss was reduced to -38.1%. But when I added your spx code, there were no trades between 7/1/08 and 3/3/09, then it started generating good profits. My membership only allows backtesting for 4 months at a time, but I'll run this through until the present. Wow! Very impressive. Are you trading this yourself? Oh, I also set my testing at max. 5 stocks/day and 8 max. total.

1. Not trading this. just revisited thanks to shillllihs and responded with the additional criteria.
2. Thanks for back testing. Please keep us in the loop.

Backtested from 1/1/2008 to 10/21/2013. The first 2 years were good and this past year was very good. Unfortunately, there were enough bad periods in between to make it unsuitable to trade as is. I still like the idea and I'll do some meddling around with it. If something really good pops up, I'll post it.
