Would you mind posting an example of the filters you are using with this indicator? Thanks in advance.

Alf,
Do you still have TRIX up ure sleeve? I've used TRIX on and off for years, never coming to grips with knowing what the difference is between this and any other trendy oscillators. BUT <gasp> I stumbled upon a startling discovery over the weekend and it looks pretty damn good (for now). Here's the complete filter:
Explanation:
1) For long, enter when the TRIX crosses above the MACD line; exit when the MACD crosses above its 7-period EMA.
2) For short, enter when the TRIX crosses below the MACD line; exit when the MACD crosses below its 7-period EMA.
3) An exception to the rule is when TRIX and MACD is converging and yet never manage to cross one another. Consider this a failure and stick with the origional trend.

...ah yes...TRIX !
I created this thread back during my TRIX period !
That was just before my R Squared period AND my True Strength Index period !
Or, was it after ???
Hmmmmmm......

Well, give it a very deep stab and let me know what's lacking.

...I'm not ignoring this filter...
...just trying to get my mathmatically challenged mind around it !
I see the first part is a "NORMALIZE" function for the TRIX and MACD !
I see the second part is a Range that's below 3% of the Day's Low !
I see a Close ABOVE the Daily Pivot !

Please feel free to add some commentary that will help me better understand your rationale !!! tia

I can only offer my rationale through yet another comic platitude: it's not what you look at but how you look at it. Well, at least, this filter looks good on chart. It won't be for another day or two until I have a definitive answer since I'm putting my own money on the line. In the meantime, I'm praying for the n-th time that the odds to be in my favor.
I came up with this filter while tinkering with various indicators on Prophet.net. The original parameters used are TRIX and MACD(12,4,2) "superimposed" on one another. For some reason, I can't seem to reproduce the exact replica in Stockfetcher. The above filter I wrote comes pretty close to the Prophet version but not close enough. Moreover, the 7-period MA of MACD is totally off. Further tweaking is obviously still required. I welcome anyone who might want to pick up the challenge.
On a side note, I stand corrected of my earlier entry/exit criteria. I stated that long/short positions are initiated with the crossover, but now I see that this is not a viable strategy. I think going long as the MACD crosses below its MA is a more feasible method than a crossover alone. One other thing that I find intriguing is the mirror image of the two indicators when superimposed. For the most part, they seem to reflect a perfect inverse relationship to each other. But there are certain times when they fall out of synch, and it seems that large price swings occur shortly thereafter.

...I'm thinking...
...that maybe you need to devote a whole new thread to this...
...with the thread title in...REALLY REALLY HUGE CAPITAL LETTERS...
...and a REALLY REALLY OBNOXIOUS FILTER NAME !!!
Or, not...
