TD Ameritrade (due to acquisition of TOS) is the best charting platform. Interactive Brokers is the best to trade with due to the low commissions. How the hell did Zecco get ranked higher than IB??? Horrible rankings! #1 and #14 are all that matter.

the best for shorts are broadstreet securities, and suretrader my two favorite brokers

the plat form is the DAS for both, its a very good platform, how much shorting, quite a bit mostly big boards of all prices even sub 1 dollar and on a blue moon some otcs, or pinks that need to be brought down ;) fees half a penny at both brokers per share*on otcs nothing for bigboards* , but when they plummit 1+ dollar on a day you cant go wrong
