The gov't is part of the wealthy. So, why would they want to change anything? They will still be wealthy regardless of what happens to our economy. China is going to rule the world by 2020 anyway.

Every issue approached with Apolitical solutions has a better chance of working then political rhetoric. On jobs loss, of the 10% or more unemployed, looking at what kinds of jobs have been lost(sector wise) and trying to target those specific areas might get better results. In this Globalized world with our economy being the most Free, the work out put will always look for a way to get efficient and more productive, so some people will never get the same jobs that they had.
