The problem is we don't really have health insurance. We have maintenance contracts.
Insurance is for the big stuff. Maintenance contracts cover almost everything.
Imagine what your car insurance would cost if they had to cover oil changes, wiper blades, new air in tires, etc.
The health insurance companies have to cover runny noses, dandruff, bad hair days, etc.
The states control insurance companies. Most are forced to provide all services. Don't believe me? Go try to buy a policy that only covers the big stuff, high deductible, etc. It depends on what state your in, but chances are you can't get one.
Now that you are aware of these FACTS, do you still wonder why rates keep going up?
If you could provide it cheaper, then go do it.
May people spend more on junk food and entertainment evrey month that the cost of an HMO premium.
