Does anyone here know if the SF indicator -- Force Index -- uses Simple Moving Average (MA) or Exponential Moving Average (EMA) in the calculation?
I have looked in the SF documentation, and it doesn't state which one. Does that mean MA? Dr. Alexander Elder, creator of the Force Index, designed it using Exponential Moving Average (EMA). Stockcharts.com also uses EMA.
Look at the stock symbol VTI, using Force Index (end-of-day Sept. 19):
---- Stockfetcher --------------- Stockcharts
FI(2)..: -449,337 ...................... -431,218
FI(13): -181,712 ...................... +209,477 (what a difference. From - to +)
Any help would be appreciated. I like this indicator, because the calculation includes Price AND Volume.
