Hello All,
I am new to Stock Fetcher and I have become quite interested in finding Gappers.
How would I rewrite this code to work in Stock Fetcher?
Min Vol (k) to 5 and the Min Avg Vol (k) to 250
Does anyone have any code for Stock Fetcher or other suggestions on how to find gappers?
I have been trading Forex for a while and now I am also learning stocks.
Any good websites and other info for newbies?
Thanks,
Kurt

Kurt,
The literature on GAPs is quite rich in sF forum.
You may want to read up on works done on GAPs by TheRumpledOne (TRO)
http://help.stockfetcher.com/sfhelp/proxysearch.php?isiframe=&q=gap+therumpledone&restrict=&btnG=Search
People like Jim Button, Chetron, Eman93 etc then built on TRO's works:
http://help.stockfetcher.com/sfhelp/proxysearch.php?isiframe=&q=gap+chetron&restrict=&btnG=Search
http://help.stockfetcher.com/sfhelp/proxysearch.php?isiframe=&q=gap+eman93&restrict=&btnG=Search
Eman93 recently published his favorite GAP filter based on TRO's and prior literature.
TRO has several posts suggesting how to trade the gaps.
Alf44 has a thread on Trading Blogs:
http://help.stockfetcher.com/sfhelp/proxysearch.php?title=StockFetcher+Technical+Analysis+and+Stock+Screening&q=alf44+blogs&restrict=&btnG=Search!&sfHeadSrchType=web&ie=&site=stockfetcher_help&output=xml_no_dtd&client=stockfetcher_help&lr=&proxystylesheet=stockfetcher_help&oe=
Good luck.

Kurt,go to the upper right hand side, search type in "fade the gap".Then click on the drop tab to forums. The highest % play is to fade,or go against the gap.If a stocks gaps down hard on open, the odds favor a reversal at some point.Certain stocks will reverse like clockwork. This is day trading set up.Before you commit real $ to this or any set up,have a watch list of stocks that gap.See where you should enter & exit a position for max profit.Get a feel for it.This type of gap set up is right of the open, and should be executed with proper timing.Another good gap play is to "buy on close, sell on open".Some stocks have a tendency to gap up on the open. It's an over night hold, good % play set up.As soon as the stock opens, you sell your position. If you're playing the right stocks, you'll find most of the time they will gap up.When they don't,you scratch the trade, most of the time even.Good luck....

To find the gappers before open all you have to do is a have very good premarket scan such as IB has, there you can even see the time they actually the scan and with the volume they hit it with and the volume rise right into the close

Hello 13th,
I am starting off as a small fry and I am using TD Ameritrade.
How would I use their stock screen tool to find Gaps.
I know I need to get to Trade STation or IB rather quickly.
Thanks for your and everyone's input.
We do the same thing with gaps in Forex on a left over doji.
I gather it is the same principle?
Thanks,
Kurt

Hello Chetron,
When I go to the screener page I see a Current Price.
When I go to the Current Price it does not have these options.
Were you on a previous version perhaps or am I missing something here?
Can you or anyone else clue me in?
Again thanks for all the responses!
