In the statement,
CWMA(CCI(10),7)
what does the 7 mean?
C=custom
W=weighted
MA=moving average
CCI=Commodity Channel Index
10=10-day lookback
7=??

Description The Custom Weighted Moving Average (CWMA) creates a weighted moving average from another indicator. This indicator uses standard weighting based on the period of the measure. The usage is the same as the Custom Moving Average (CMA).

I did look in the index. I understand the 10. But I don't know what the 7 means. Anybody?

Hi,
The "10" is part of CCI(10) which means it is the period for the CCI.
The "7" is the period for the CWMA.

Tom,
Thanks for the clarification. So in the example I gave above, the CWMA (using 7 days) is a 7-day weighted moving average of the 10-day CCI simple moving average---using the "typical" price of the stock (i.e., H+L+C/3). Correct?
Also, is it a "custom" WMA because you can make the 7 any number you want? In the example above, would 10 be the maximum, since CCI(10) is the number in this case? In other words, I don't see how CWMA could be 12 if CCI is only 10. Let me know if my thinking is right or wrong.
I know these may seem stupid questions, but I just want to make sure I clearly understand. Constructive feedback is always welcomed. I love SF.

Gene...
Everyday CCI(10) has a value. So you can take the custom weighted moving average of CCI(10) over any number of days.
MAY ALL YOUR FILLS BE COMPLETE.

TheRumpledOne,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your multi-examples.
But I still don't understand how the CWMA number (e.g., 100) can be greater than the base CCI number (e.g., 10). I can understand 2-10, but anything greater than 10 baffles me. I need a smart pill.
